Financial Governance
Glooscap First Nation has achieved Financial Management System (FMS) Certification through the First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB), demonstrating that strong governance, financial administration, accountability, and long-term financial practices are embedded across the Nation.
As part of this framework, Glooscap First Nation established a Financial Administration Law (FAL) that sets clear standards for financial management, oversight, reporting, and decision-making. FMS Certification confirms that these practices have been implemented and are actively followed.
Glooscap Ventures operates in accordance with the Nation’s Financial Administration Law, helping ensure our business activities are supported by responsible financial management, appropriate oversight, and strong governance practices.
This framework strengthens accountability to Glooscap First Nation and its members while providing confidence to lenders, partners, and other stakeholders in how Glooscap Ventures is governed and managed. FMS Certification also supports Glooscap First Nation's access to financing through the First Nations Finance Authority (FNFA)
Anti-Money Laundering & Financial Crime
Glooscap Ventures is committed to conducting business with integrity and to protecting the organization from being used for money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion or other financial crime.
We apply a risk-based approach to due diligence and expect our businesses, partners and investments to comply with all applicable anti-money laundering, anti-terrorist financing and sanctions laws and regulations.
Certain businesses within our portfolio maintain their own anti-money laundering (AML) policies, procedures and compliance programs appropriate to their operations and regulatory requirements. Glooscap Ventures is currently developing an enterprise-level AML policy to establish a consistent framework for oversight, due diligence and financial crime risk management across the organization.
